Appropriate Remuneration for Duties Undertaken

30 June 2017

Members at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital approached the Public Service Association (PSA) recently for assistance with ensuring that the correct remuneration was being paid by the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) for duties undertaken. This matter was specific to ASO1 casual members who consistently backfill ASO2 positions, but are only paid at the ASO1 classification level. This is not an acceptable practice.

The PSA approached Workforce who advised that should any members believe they are not being paid correctly, they should raise the matter with their line Manager in the first instance. Workforce stated that there had been a number of instances where the higher classification has been approved on timesheets by Management, but not actioned by Shared Services.

If you believe that this has happened to you, please ensure that you raise the issue at a local level and seek the underpayment that is outstanding.

You are entitled to be paid at the correct remuneration level for work undertaken. The PSA has stressed to Workforce that an environment needs to exist at WCH where staff feel comfortable in raising this issue without any fear of repercussions.

Please direct any enquiries or feedback to PSA here.
