Car Parking Cost Increase in Health

13 December 2019

Members in Health have contacted the PSA about the significant increase in the costs of car parking for staff in public hospitals. Some sites expanding on almost 130% increase. This cost increase was announced by the State Treasurer Rob Lucas as part of the State Budget in June 2019. This is one of many bad decisions in that budget which also included massive public sector job cuts and privatisations.

The cost of hospital car parking is set by the Government at budget time along with all fees and charges collected by the state including the cost of metro tickets, speeding fines and license and registration fees.

The PSA is opposed to this increase as it directly affects the take home pay of our members working in health.

We urge members who are concerned about this issue to make contact with your local Member of Parliament.
