Country Arts Employment Contracts | Public Service Association Lodges Dispute in South Australian Employment Tribunal

26 November 2019

On 20 November 2019 the Public Service Association (PSA) lodged a dispute with the South Australian Employment Tribunal (SAET) about employment contracts at Country Arts SA.

The formal process follows the PSA’s attempts to resolve the issue directly with management dating back to 1 August 2019 where the PSA met with CEO Steve Saffell to initiate discussions about the validity of the contracts that Country Arts SA (CASA) staff are employed under. On 3 September 2019 the PSA received a letter from CASA rejecting the PSA position.

The PSA responded by seeking independent legal advice on behalf of our members. After considering this advice, the PSA met with CASA members to discuss their position. At this meeting two motions were put forward and endorsed by all members.

Subsequently on 31 October 2019 the PSA wrote to CEO Steve Saffell advising CASA that we were now in formal dispute over staff contracts.

The PSA will now wait to receive a hearing date from SAET and in turn will update members as we progress.

If staff have any feedback about this or other processes at Country Arts SA please contact PSA.
