Dental Therapists – Transition to AHP Stream Update (NO.2)

13 April 2018

Following the previous Information Update of 6 April 2018, the Public Service Association (PSA) has received a diverse range of responses from members that are affected by the proposed translation.

The concerns raised by members highlight the lack of clarity and information provided in the governments ‘Letter of Offer’, to the point that the PSA cannot agree in full by 13 April 2018 as requested by the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment (CPSE).

The South Australian Modern Public Sector Enterprise Agreement states that “the CPSE, in consultation with the Department of Health and Ageing and the PSA, will review transition arrangements for Dental Therapists, to be completed within three (3) months of the approval of this Agreement (the prescribed period)” (Appendix 1 of Appendix 6A on page 119).

The prescribed period therefore concludes on the three month date being 30 April 2018.

The PSA clearly needs to involve members further in the consultation process for the translation arrangements in order to be clear about agreement or otherwise. The implication of PSA agreement in full being supplied after 30 April 2018 may be delayed pay increases resulting from the translation.

Members have proposed an after-hours consultation meeting be held one evening next week.

Two proposed consultation meeting dates are:

  •  Wednesday, 18 April 2018, 6:00pm – 7:00pm
  •  Friday, 20 April 2018, 6:00pm – 7:00pm

The meeting is proposed to be held at the PSA, 122 Pirie Street, Adelaide.

Please express your meeting date preference by 3:00pm Monday 16 April 2018. The meeting details will be published in a Meeting Notice on Monday 16 April 2018.

PSA members who have any concerns or comments about the offer or any other issue in relation to this translation process can continue to email PSA.
