Government Refuses to Accept Independent Umpires Decision on Crib Breaks

09 December 2019

The government has chosen to appeal the decision of the independent umpire on the long running underpayment dispute about crib breaks at the AYTC.

The South Australian Employment Tribunal ruled on 8 October 2019 that crib breaks should be a 30 minute break taken in the workplace, but free of active or operational duties and with the possibility of temporary interruption. The judgement said that the three “test case” applicants did not receive a crib as required by the Enterprise Agreement.

The Public Service Association (PSA) maintains our position supporting your entitlement to this condition of employment. We will continue to represent members through the appeal.

We will keep members informed.
