Prison Privatisation | Legal Case Update

07 November 2018

The Public Service Association (PSA) lodged an application in the South Australian Employment Court on 23 October 2018 about the privatisation of the Adelaide Remand Centre (ARC). This followed the unanimous passing of a motion of support by ARC members. The application is based on senior legal and PSA senior industrial advice.

The first step in the legal proceedings is a compulsory conference between the parties facilitated by a South Australian Employment Tribunal Commissioner.

The compulsory conference is set for Friday 9 November 2018. This is a step that must be taken before the matter can proceed to the South Australian Employment Court.

The PSA will continue to keep members informed of the progress of the case as the matter progresses.
