Congratulations to all members who attended the successful events held at Parliament House, Port Augusta, Port Lincoln, the march from the Adelaide Remand Centre and the events at all prison sites today.

We saw a strong turn out of members today in what marks the beginning of our campaign against the privatisations, closures and cuts to services and jobs contained in the State Budget.

As PSA General Secretary Nev Kitchin said in his address to the hundreds of members at Parliament House, “We know it won’t be easy, and it may take some time, but we are determined to hold this Government to account and protect the essential services that our community depends upon.”

When the crowd was asked “Will you stand together and fight against this budget?”, it was met with a resounding “YES!”.

For members who were unable to attend the rally today videos and photos of the event have been posted to the PSA’s Facebook page here.

The campaign will continue as we fight to reverse the damaging Budget decisions of the Government including the privatisation of the Adelaide Remand Centre, closure of seven TAFE SA campuses, closure of three Service SA offices, and the outsourcing of 59 Financial Counsellor positions in Child Protection. The Government is also publicly threatening SA Pathology and SA Medical Imaging with privatisation on top of many other deep cuts within agencies.
