Review of Allied Health Peer Assessment Guidelines

27 October 2017

The PSA has recently received formal correspondence from the Department for Correctional Services (DCS) advising of a proposed review of the Allied Health Peer Assessment Guidelines. The proposed guidelines are available here.

DCS state that this review has been undertaken to simplify the application process.

While the PSA welcomes an application process that enables members to progress from an AHP1 to an AHP2 without undue complexity, the PSA has concerns that some of the amendments are in breach of the guidelines as outlined in the South Australian Public Sector Wages Parity Enterprise Agreement: Salaried 2014.

Of significant concern to the PSA is the principle that “no less than twelve months must lapse from the date the employee was notified of the decision before a new application can be lodged”. This is inaccurate and disadvantages members working as AHP1s.

The PSA will be raising concerns with DCS in relation to the proposed guidelines.
