Save Our Services Rally - 13 June 2019 | and More

28 May 2019

Dear Member

The PSA's campaign against budget cuts and privatisations in the public sector is continuing on a range of fronts.

With the 2019 State Budget approaching, we are ramping up our efforts to gain increased public support for well-resourced, high quality, essential public services.

Privatisation Forum this Thursday Night - 30 May 2019
As part of our campaign to inform the public about the devastating impacts of privatisation, the PSA, in conjunction with the Hawke Centre, is holding a forum about the effects of privatisation this Thursday night at UniSA.

The forum is called "Privatisation ... in whose interest?" and kicks off at 6:00pm to make attendance easier for members working in and around the CBD. The forum will conclude at 7:15pm.

More details and registration information is available here.

Save Our Services Rally

When: 12:30pm – 1:00pm, Thursday 13 June 2019
Where: Parliament House, North Terrace, Adelaide
Who: PSA members and community supporters

The 2018 State Budget was punctuated by a swathe of cuts to essential public services in almost every department. Cuts to health, the environment, TAFE, child protection, Service SA, Safework and more have made the work you do harder and impacted on the delivery of essential public services.

Further, the Adelaide Remand Centre has been privatised and there are signs that more prisons may be handed over to Serco, a multinational corporation with a terrible track record running private prisons.

SA Pathology has been threatened with privatisation if it does not make savings which will clearly impact on the service they provide.

We know the state government has plans for more cuts and more privatisations. Let them know you will not stand for the destruction of our essential public services.

Pledge to attend the rally on 13 June 2019!

It is important we get a big turnout at the Save Our Services rally on 13 June 2019 to show the Government that we are sick of the cutting and privatisation of our services. If you can make it and want to join your fellow PSA members at this action, please click here and pledge to attend the rally.

Advertise the rally at your workplace - Download our A4 rally poster here, share it by email to your friends and colleagues and print it out and to display prominently at your workplace.

Radio Advertising Has Begun

In the lead up to the State Budget being delivered on 18 June 2019, the PSA is running radio advertisments on FiveAA, Nova 91.9 and Hits 107 to inform the public about the State Government's privatisation agenda.

World Public Service Day – 23 June 2019
For reasons only known to those at the United Nations who set these dates, Sunday 23 June 2019 is World Public Service Day!

Given only some PSA members work on weekends, and we appreciate those of you who do, we are suggesting that your workplace hold a morning tea to celebrate this day on Monday 24 June 2019 instead.

A morning tea event would be a good way for members at your site to come together to celebrate the work you do.

If you do hold an event on 23 June 2019, please send us in your photos so we can post to our Facebook Page.
