Shuttle Bus Changes – What To Do

20 October 2017

Royal Adelaide Hospital staff were advised today of changes to the CALHN Frome Road shuttle bus service. The changes were without notice and without consultation with staff.

At a meeting CAHLN held with the PSA on 25 September 2017, CALHN management undertook to maintain safety for staff to get to modes of transport for entry and exit to and from work. They undertook to continue the shuttle bus on a week by week basis until viable alternatives were in place for the safety of staff.

The shuttle bus hours will be reduced as of 23 October 2017. The new operating hours will only cover from 6:00am to 7:15am.

Staff are encouraged to use the Adelaide Metro 97A bus for other times, although the last service from the new RAH is 7:41pm Monday to Friday, and an hour earlier (6:41pm) on the weekend and public holidays. This obviously does not suit staff working on shifts that conclude after these times.

No viable alternatives were presented by CALHN management other than to discuss arrangements for safe transport back to the Frome Road car park with their line manager.

Staff have reported difficulties in obtaining valid taxi vouchers and insufficient support from their line managers, leaving them not confident of a workable solution.

The PSA suggests that members ask for valid taxi vouchers for this transport. If there are continuing difficulties contact the PSA Members’ Rights Hotline on 8205 3227 immediately so the PSA can escalate for resolution as needed.
