What legal representation am I entitled to ? The PSA/CPSU Legal Services Scheme covers the following circumstances:
The Scheme Managers must accept your claim prior to you incurring any costs. The Telephone Legal Advisory Service and the first consultation with a lawyer booked through the service are free. There must be reasonable prospects of success. Your case can be discontinued at any time if the prospects of success no longer exist, or you cease to be a financial member of the Union. Certain matters are not covered by the Scheme. There are listed in a detailed guide from the Union or the Scheme Administrators. Many matters are more properly handled by Government Agencies which may not allow legal representation. Matters in dispute of less than $500 are not covered by the Scheme. Matters in dispute must occur during the period of the Scheme. Matters that occurred prior to joining the Scheme are not covered. Family Mediation Services are only provided if both parties agree to submit to mediation. For Industrial matters you should continue to contact your Industrial Officer on phone: (08) 8205 3201. |
