HOSPITAL CAR PARKING DECISION
3 February 2012 The Full Bench of the Industrial Relations Court today handed down its decision in the hospital car parking dispute HEALTH PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT MEETING 25 January 2012 The PSA met with the Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PSCM) group recently. TRANSFER OF ASSETS MANAGEMENT FROM HEALTH TO SPOTLESS - BRIEF NO. 4 14 December 2011 As members were advised in previous Briefs, State Cabinet had agreed to the transfer of Asset Management Services to the Across Government Facilities Management run by the Department for Planning & Infrastructure. GLENSIDE NEW FACILITIES UPDATE 28 September 2011 On Friday 16 September 2011, the PSA attended the Glenside New Mental Health Facilities Consultative Committee meeting. HOSPITAL PARKING: PSA SECURES INJUNCTION 23 September 2011 PSA members who are paying new or increased car parking rates or have been threatened with fines for not complying with new car parking arrangements at metropolitan hospitals have won a reprieve, following PSA's successful application for an injunction in the Industrial relations Court this morning. HOSPITAL CAR PARKING PSA LEGAL ACTION 21 September 2011 The hospital car parking dispute has taken a new turn with the PSA commencing legal action in the Industrial Relations Court. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH CENTRAL OFFICE OH&S STRUCTURE UPDATE 21 September 2011 Members of the PSA have recently raised numerous concerns regarding Occupational Health and Safety compliance within the Central Office of the department of Health in Citicentre. ABORIGINAL HEALTH NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE 7 June 2011 Negotiations continue between SA Government and PSA re conditions of employment for post 1 July 2011 for Aboriginal Health Unit members. HEALTH ICT CENTRALISATION DISPUTE RESOLVED 6 June 2011 The PSA dispute with the Department of Health ICT services has been resolved and status quo provisions lifted. CONSOLIDATION OF MEDICAL IMAGING 30 May 2011 The SA Government announced the consolidation of Imaging Services throughout SA Health into one of the former Treasurer, Kevin Foley's 2010 State Budget savings initiatives. SA HEALTH'S RESPONSE TO EVERY PATIENT EVERY SERVICE 25 January 2011 The PSA recently received the Draft Directives and Guidelines to ensure SA Health's commitment where possible with best practice guidelines in line with Government's commitment through Every Patient Every Service. SA HEALTH FALL AND FALL INJURY PREVENTION 25 January 2011 The SA Health Safety and Quality Unit has invited feedback from the PSA regarding various policy documents related to fall and fall injury prevention. CAR PARKING CHARGES 19 January 2011 Car parking charges are to be introduced and increased at hospitals as a consequence of the 2010 State Budget. Staff, patients and visitors will be affected. CONSOLIDATION OF SA HEALTH MEDICAL IMAGING SERVICES 21 December 2010 PSA has recently received a letter from SA Health which provides an update of the consolidation of SA Health Medical Imaging Services. BUDGET CUTS - WORKLOADS 3 November 2010 As the effects of Budget cuts become more obvious PSA members are increasingly reporting that pressure is being placed on them to work extra hours without remuneration or access to flexi-time or other flexible working arrangements. CLOSURE OF STAFF COUNSELLING SERVICE 20 August 2010 The PSA has written to the Chief Executive of the Children Youth and Women's Health Service after becoming aware that the in housed Staff Counselling Service will will be closed. 4,000 HEALTH JOBS TO GO 9 August 2010 Health Chief Executive Dr Tony Sherbon today advised the Budget and Finance Committee of Parliament that the Sustainable Budget Commission is seeking $450 million in savings from the Department of Health. PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE 22 July 2010 It has come to the attention of the PSA that another Union has put out a publication which suggests that professionals working in the public sector should have their own Professional Indemnity Insurance. This is not correct. BREAST SCREEN SERVICE CUTS 21 July 2010 On Tuesday 20 July 2010, it was reported on Adelaide media that the Government may be going to cut breast screen services in order to fund the new digital breast screening technology. TRANSFER OF POSITIONS TO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH 10 September 2009 The PSA has received written notification from the Executive Director, Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia (DASSA) regarding the proposed transfer of five positions from the Therapeutic Goods component of Pharmaceutical Services within DASSA to Public Health and Clinical Co-ordination within the Department of Health. DRAFT SOUTH AUSTRALIAN PUBLIC HEALTH BILL 2009 9 September 2009 The PSA is a key stakeholder in state health services has been provided with a draft copy of the South Australian Public Health Bill 2009 by the Minister for Health. HAMPSTEAD REHABILITATION CENTRE REVIEW OF MANAGEMENT STRUCTURES 9 September 2009 The PSA has received notification from the CNAHS Regional Leadership Team (RLT) that it is seeking to review the management structures of Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre and St Margaret's Hospital in order to improve reporting relationships with their host hospitals thereby assisting the organisation to achieve its goals under the SA Health Plan. DRAFT MODEL OF CARE FOR CAMHS 27 August 2009 The PSA has written to the Director Mental Health Operations at Department of Health regarding the draft Model of Care for CAMHS ANNUAL LEAVE ENTITLEMENTS FOR HEALTH MEMBERS ROSTERED OVER 7 DAYS 27 August 2009 It is important for PSA members who are rostered over 7 days to check that they are receiving the correct Annual Leave entitlements. IMPLEMENTATION OF PATIENT FOCUSSED BOOKING 26 August 2009 The Public Service Association has received documentation from the General Manager, Royal Adelaide Hospital informing them of the proposal to implement Patient Focussed Booking (PFB) in all Outpatient Departments within Functional Services at the Royal Adelaide Hospital from August 2009 with the aim for completion in all areas by 1st November 2009. CHILDREN YOUTH & WOMEN'S HEALTH SERVICE RESTRUCTURE 20 August 2009 The PSA has received a letter from the Women's and Children's Hospital advising that a number of PSA members working in Disability Services will be affected by an organisational restructure. CENTRAL NORTHERN ADELAIDE HEALTH SERVICE HIGHER DUTIES ALLOWANCE 20 August 2009 The PSA has recently been advised by members that the Central Northern Adelaide Health Service is implementing a "CNAHS Savings Strategy" by increasing the requirement before being paid Higher Duties Allowance to over 3 weeks. "BULLYING IN THE WORKPLACE" TASK FORCE 21 January 2008 The task force was established in response to a recognised growing risk in the workplace to South Australian Health staff of violent and aggressive behaviour from non-employees, in particular, patients. The terms of reference have been expanded to include bullying of staff by other staff. NOVITA COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT BALLOT RESULT 20 December 2007 On Thursday 13 December 2007 the ballot count was conducted for the Novita Children's Services Collective Agreement. SA HEALTH SAFE CONDUCT AND RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR TASKFORCE 20 December 2007 The SA Taskforce was established by the Minister for Health, Mr John Hill, late in 2006. MENTAL HEALTH UNIT RESTRUCTURE 2007 14 December 2007 The PSA has received a draft copy of the proposed organisational chart reflecting the Department of Health Mental Health Unit. RECOMMENDATIONS ON PSA MENTAL HEALTH DISPUTE 6 December 2007 The PSA notified members of a dispute with Central Northern Adelaide Health Service (CNAHS) in a brief dated 21 November 2007. RIGHTS TO PRIVATE PRACTICE 21 November 2007 The PSA commenced negotiations with the Department of Health in February 2007 to develop a policy and an agreement for Rights to Private Practice. MENTAL HEALTH DISPUTE 21 November 2007 The PSA has lodged a dispute with Central Northern Adelaide Health Service (CNAHS) regarding the under-classification of the multi-classified Mental Health Team Leader positions. DENTISTS DEAL UPDATE 31 October 2007 The Chief Executive of Department of Health has written to the PSA advising that the "management/leadership allowance is payable to eligible Dental Officers (DSOs in addition to the 10% attraction allowance and is considered as part of base salary in the calculations of employee entitlements. DENTAL CRISIS CONTINUING 24 July 2007 The Public Service Association met with SA Dental Officers this morning to report back the recommendations from yesterday's South Australian Industrial Relations Commission voluntary conference before Commissioner Doyle. GOVERNMENT FAILS TO ADDRESS DENTISTS' CONCERNS 18 July 2007 The South Australian Government has today refused to take steps to address recruitment and retention concerns of Public Sector Dentists. DENTAL DISPUTE - COMMISSIONER'S RECOMMENDATIONS 9 July 2007 In summary, the Commissioner did not consider that PSA members were constrained by the 'no further claims' clause of the 2006 Enterprise Agreement. HEALTH SHARED PAYROLL SERVICE PLACED ON HOLD! 25 May 2007 The PSA received a response from Dr Tony Sherbon, Chief Executive of the Department of Health, advising that the preliminary investigation into the potential to establish a shared payroll service for Health Portfolio agencies has now been suspended pending consideration of a broader proposal to establish a shared payroll system for most of the agencies using the CHRIS Human Resource Management System.
