USE OF TIME BANK FOR PUBLIC HOLIDAYS.The
PSA is still receiving calls from SSOs regarding the use of time bank
for Good Friday. Clause 40.4.4 of the SA Education Staff (Govt Preschools, Schools and TAFE) Certified Agreement states, "From the commencement of the 2006 school year, part time SSOs who receive a term time loading, are able to access their time bank for a public holiday that falls at the beginning or the end of the school term”. This clause is particularly relevant for the Easter school holidays when Easter falls at the beginning or end of the school holidays as it does in 2006. Previously, SSOs were unable to access their time bank for this time. Please be aware that if Easter falls in the middle of the school holidays then this clause would not apply. DECS have also put out a Circular to Principals dated 22/3/06, to confirm the availability of time bank for part-time SSOs who receive a term time loading. Any PSA SSO members who have been refused access to time bank for Good Friday should contact the PSA, as this may form the basis for a claim for underpayment of wages. If you have any questions or queries regarding this, please contact Kerrin Martin, PSA Industrial Officer, on 8205 3292 or at kjm@cpsu.asn.au CPSU/PSA
