FREE DENTAL SERVICE

The Public Service Association (PSA) held a meeting at 6:00pm on Wednesday 20 June 2007 which was attended by the majority of Dental Officers employed by the state government. Country Dental Officers and others who could not attend, phoned or emailed their support for industrial action. PSA General Secretary Jan McMahon, PSA President Lindsay Oxlad and PSA industrial staff also attended the meeting.

In addition to the work bans unanimously endorsed at that meeting, the following motion was also passed:

that this meeting of PSA Dental Officers will continue work bans and the campaign in support of improved wages and conditions, and further resolve to increase action, including the provision of free dental treatment if no positive response is received from the Department of Health.”

As of 5:00pm, Friday 22 June, no response to the PSA claim for a new pay structure for Dental Officers had been received by the PSA, from the Department of Health. From Monday 25 June 2007 the current bans and limitations will be expanded to include:

FREE dental care to public patients

The PSA officially notifies the Department of Health of industrial action authorised by the PSA. The PSA asks that all members respect and support the Dental Officers industrial action.
