PSA COMMITTED TO PROTECTING MEMBERS

Recent press articles have reported “more pain” through spending cuts and job losses in the public sector to pay for State Government Health spending.

The PSA is absolutely committed to protecting members and community services. Prior to the last State election, the PSA secured an ongoing commitment from the Premier Mike Rann of no forced redundancies for public sector employees. In addition, further assurances given included:

  • No privatisation; and

  • Protecting State Public Sector employees from WorkChoices

These are key promises which were made in the knowledge that having dedicated, professional public sector workers, working within a fair industrial relations system, will ensure quality public sector services are delivered to the community of South Australia.

As members are faced with changes including Public Sector Reform, Public-Private Partnerships and Shared Services initiatives, and challenges such as skills shortages and an ageing workforce, the PSA will continue to advocate for members.

The PSA continues its campaign to protect the Public Sector and the services that are provided to South Australian families.
