SINGLE PATHOLOGY SERVICE HR PRINCIPLES

On Monday 3 March 2008 the SA Pathology Service Human Resource Sub-committee met to discuss further developments on the draft HR Principles and Procedures document.

The PSA has commenced consulting with members regarding the HR Principles. The following issues have been raised by members:

  • Members have questioned how the Department will handle the situation where the employee currently works in two positions within a hospital both on a part time basis and one of the positions is in scope for SA Pathology. There are unanswered questions regarding whether they will be deemed to have two separate positions for taxation purposes in the future. Furthermore, how will entitlements such as long service leave, sick leave, annual leave etc. be treated should it be deemed that the employee has two separate positions. There may also be issues relating to superannuation payments and salary sacrifice.

  • A number of TGO2 members have also questioned how SA Pathology will absorb TGO2's who have been promoted on an individual basis due to their qualifications and experience however continue to fill a substantive TGO1 position.

  • A number of issues have been raised about relocation. These are being worked through with Management

The Committee was advised that the research component of the Hanson Institute will be in scope for SA Pathology.

The PSA will be meeting with the Department of Health to discuss the HR Principles and other matters this week.

The PSA continues to welcome feedback from members concerning the impact of the HR Principles, particularly with examples of how changes will affect members.
