SA PATHOLOGY SERVICE COMMENCING JULY 2008

The Statutes Amendment and Repeal (Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science) Bill 2008 passed through both Houses of Parliament yesterday enabling the commencement of SA Pathology. The Bill is expected to be proclaimed on 1 July 2008.

This means that IMVS staff will now be able to re-commence Salary Sacrifice arrangements upon transferring to the new organisation. WCH and SouthPath (FMC) Salary Sacrifice arrangements will remain unchanged.

The Single Pathology Service HR Sub-Committee has now had its final meeting. Future consultation will be facilitated through a separate SA Pathology Group, hosted by CNAHS. The first meeting will be on 4 July 2008. A draft Terms of Reference and membership will be discussed.

The PSA is concerned about the consultation processes on the new organisational structure, and will be raising the matter with SAPS. Management will be reminded of the Consultative Processes within Clause 22 of the SA Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2006, that must be adhered to.

The PSA continues to welcome feedback from members regarding the impact on members of changes within SAPS.
