The
Para Medical Aide (PMA) Working Group met on the 27th of August 2008
to continue identifying additional hours, new positions and extra
opportunities for Para Medical Aides (PMAs).
The
Working Group were able to progress a number of issues. Here are some
key points:
-
A
staffing ratio was developed to assist in identifying additional
hours and where new contracts may be required. Some teams already
work within the ratio but some teams will need to appoint some full
time and 0.9-0.8 Full Time Equivalent(FTE) positions.
-
Training
opportunities have been identified and packages will soon be
developed to be offered to members. Training packages will include
Metropolitan Access Team, Key Contact and Palliative Team training
to assist with relief and staff development opportunities.
-
Significant
progress was made when all parties agreed to the following process
for filling temporary and on-going positions.
-
Expression
of interest sought from the Team where the opportunity exists.
-
If
no one applies, then an Expression of interest will be sought from
all current Domiciliary Care SA(DCSA) staff.
-
Should
the second step prove unsuccessful, DCSA will advertise externally.
The
next meeting will be held on the 10th September 2008 and client
survey results will be provided in relation to opportunities for
additional hours outside of current start and finish times.
Once
again, these results would not have been possible if not for the
action and determination of all PSA members who fought for positive
change in their workplace. Well Done!
