BIO MEDICAL ENGINEERING STAFF SECURE A SAFE AND HEALTHY WORK ENVIRONMENT
The
Bio Medical Engineering Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital
(QEH) will now not be required to work in a building while it is
being demolished.
Initially,
members were informed by QEH Management that they will need to remain
in the basement of the Maternity Building whilst renovations were
occurring, including the demolishing of the majority of the
building.
This
raised significant health and safety concerns - for staff and also
for patients who rely on the equipment that Bio Medical Engineering
staff maintain.
The
continual strength of members to oppose their health and safety being
put at risk was instrumental in an outcome being realised last Friday
21 May 2010 which will enable the re location of staff from the
Maternity Block.
The
PSA, as its primary focus, is committed to members' health and safety
as well as the vital work that these members perform as it relates to
patient care.
