DO IT FOR LIFE PROGRAM - DISPUTE UPDATE 2

On Monday 5 July 2010 the Public Service Association (PSA) met with SA Health in relation to the dispute lodged by the PSA (see previous PSA Brief of 1/7/2010) over the agency's failure to consult in the funding and job cuts to the 'Do it for Life" Lifestyle Risk Factor Modification Program (DIFL).

SA Health acknowledged that they have not consulted despite the consultative principles outlined within Clause 25 of the SA Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2010.

SA Health indicated, pursuant to the above Enterprise Agreement, that the status quo would remain until the consultation process has been completed.

The PSA expects genuine transparency throughout this process.  PSA is determined to ensure all requirements of the consultative process are met.

The PSA will continue to defend the Public Sector and the vital role it provides.

PSA members have raised concerns about the strict criteria for clients, concerns about the modeling and restrictions in the method in attracting clients entering the program.  Also the unrealistic benchmark being placed upon the numbers.

Another meeting has been scheduled for early August 2010.

Jobs cuts equals service cuts.  The PSA will keep members informed of progress.
