SSO AND ECW CONVERSION TO PERMANENCY.

The PSA has received a number of responses from SSO's and ECW's who consider they meet the requirements for conversion to permanency as detailed in the South Australian Industrial Relations Commission, decision dated June 2010.

All SSO's and ECW's that have more than two years service, and have worked 15 hours or more per week (not including school holiday periods) will be eligible for consideration to conversion to permanent employment. The two years service and/or the 15 hours per week can be an aggregate across different sites.

The responses received from SSO's and ECW's to date, listing the individuals name, school, commencement date and hours worked per week has been forwarded to the Chief Executive of DECS with a covering letter. As further responses are received from SSO's and ECW's, this information will be provided to the Chief Executive of DECS in the same manner.

The PSA covering letter also requests that DECS provide a summary list of any SSO/ECW on the list provided to DECS by the PSA who have not been successful in gaining permanent employment along with the reasons relied upon to reject the conversion to permanency. The PSA may then challenge any individual rejection depending on the reason provided by DECS.

The PSA encourages any SSO's or ECW's who have not responded to the PSA to date to forward their response as soon as possible. If you are not a PSA member and wish to be included on our list please contact the PSA to discuss becoming a member.
