DO IT FOR LIFE PROGRAM DISPUTE UPDATE.
The
PSA has sought the intervention of the Industrial Relations Commission
of South Australia (IRCSA) to facilitate a resolution of the industrial
dispute which commenced on 30 June 2010.
As previously advised, on the 30th June 2010, SA Health unilaterally,
without consultation, advised the PSA and affected DIFL members that,
as of 1 July 2010, funding for the program would be cut. Such a cut
would result in the slashing over 50% of jobs from the program.
Due to the obvious lack of consultation as prescribed within the
Enterprise Agreement, the PSA had no alternative than to lodge a formal
dispute. As per Clause 26.2 of the South Australian Wages Parity
Enterprise Agreement 2010, during any dispute the status quo existing
immediately prior to the matter giving rise to the dispute will remain.
It has become apparent to the PSA that SA Health have absolutely no
intention in resolving the issues outlined in the PSA's dispute letter
of 30 June 2010. The employer is keen to ignore the concerns raised by
members and press ahead with the culling of some 20 positions, and as a
result, ignore status quo provision as outlined above.
Subsequently, the PSA looks forward to appearing before the IRCSA to seek its assistance.
Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact PSA Industrial Officer Simon Johnson on 8205 3261 or by email at spj@cpsu.asn.au
The
PSA will oppose Budget cuts, and is working with members and the
community to protect jobs, employment conditions and the services so
necessary to South Australian families.
