CONSULTATION RE: NEW ROYAL ADELAIDE HOSPITAL

SA Health has advised that consultation and communication during the new RAH design and development phase with RAH employees and their unions, will be mainly through the following  two forums.

1.   Department of Health monthly union update meetings:

The next scheduled for 28th November 2011.

2.   The RAH Industrial Liaison Forum (ILF) bi-monthly meetings:

The next three meetings are  scheduled for 11th January, 14th March and 6th May 2012 at 11a.m. The ILF discusses a range of other industrial issues at the RAH.

The PSA regards these meetings as being part of the consultative process, i.e. the information sharing phase, but specific issues of concern to PSA members may be discussed with Department of Health management elsewhere. Clause 25.1.2 “Consultative Processes” of the Enterprise Agreement (EA) states “Employers consult in good faith not simply advise what will be done” and at Clause 25.1.1 there must be “the genuine opportunity ...to contribute effectively to any decision making process.”

As well as PSA officials, the PSA involves its members  as delegates in these forums. These delegates are usually local elected PSA Councillors or PSA Work Site Representatives, but can also be other members who wish to represent PSA members at their worksite or for their discipline. Such members can attend these forums regularly or on an ad.hoc needs be basis.

There are other forums discussing the development of the new RAH and members may become aware of issues through these forums, that  they wish the PSA to raise in the Industrial Liaison Forum.

The PSA is asking members who wish to be involved in these communication\consultative processes to contact the PSA.

If there are any specific areas of concern the PSA can hold meetings of members either for the whole RAH membership or in worksites. It is essential that PSA has  members' feedback to ensure that your issues and concerns are raised and addressed.
