MACHINERY OF GOVERNMENT CHANGES TO DCSI UPDATE

On 30 November 2011, the Public Service Association (PSA) met with Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Human Resources representatives. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the imminent changes to the relevant Departments, as a consequence of the changes to Ministries recently announced by the Hon. Premier Weatherill.

The Division of Families SA will be transferred to the Department for Education and Child Development(ECD), with the exception of  Youth Justice Directorate and Anti-Poverty Unit, which will both remain in DCSI.

It is expected that approximately 22 Full Time Equivalent positions or funding from Community & Home Support SA that work with Aging Policy will  transfer to SA Health.

Corporate Services workers from DCSI who predominately deliver services to Families SA will also transfer to ECD. These areas, as outlined below, have been identified to provide staff or funding for Full Time Equivalent(FTE) positions to ECD:

Internal Audit & Risk 1FTE                 Assets, Facilities & Screening 4 FTE
Business Affairs 5.4FTE                    College for Learning & Development 14.6 FTE
Financial Services 5 FTE                    Business Technology 1 FTE
Special Investigations Unit 8 FTE    Stronger Families Safer Children 3 FTE
Human Resources and Health & Workforce Safety  9 FTE

Managers by now should have consulted with workers who have been identified to transfer to SA Health or ECD. Formal letters from DCSI will also be mailed to all affected workers.
