SUPER SA ORGANISATIONAL RE-STRUCTURE UPDATE

On Monday 5 December 2011, the Public Service Association(PSA) met with Super SA senior managerial staff. The meeting was to obtain an update on the new organisational structure and the staffing transition arrangements.

In the meeting SuperSA acknowledged the following:

SuperSA are on track to meet the tentative deadline of 16 December 2011, for completion of  the staff transition arrangement process in regards to the new SuperSA organisational structure.

Only 2 roles remain to be filled, these are the Membership Education Officer and Actuarial Officer positions.

SuperSA has confirmed that throughout the implementation of the new restructuring plan,. unplaced staff will be engaged and given the opportunity to secure a role at their substantive classification level which is commensurate with their existing skills and capabilities.

The PSA has indicated that if there are no positions suitable for unplaced staff within the new structure then a meeting will be held between the PSA and SuperSA senior managerial staff to discuss potentially implementing personal development programs. This personal development program will have the potential to help unplaced staff attain core competencies for suitable positions within the new structure.

It should be noted that there are no substantive ASO1 positions in the new baseline structure. SuperSA also stipulated that the intent of restructuring initiatives was to not just provide more efficient and effective service delivery, but to ensure all positions are appropriately classified. The PSA was successful in assisting the progression of ASO1's to ASO2's and ASO2's to ASO3's. Super SA confirmed their intent that redeployment is to be the last option for unplaced staff.
