IMPLEMENTATION OF PROFESSIONAL CLASSIFICATION STRUCTURE There
were a number of issues raised by the PSA with Government in relation
to the implementation of the new Professional Classification
structure. These matters have now been resolved. 1 MANAGEMENT ALLOWANCE In the
old PSO structure those members classified in the MPS range had the
management allowance component of salary included in their gross
salary figure. It did not appear separately on pay
slips.
On translation to the new PO structure the Management Allowance now
appears on the pay slip (in most circumstances) as a separate
figure. The PSA has confirmed that even though the allowance
does appear separately on the pay slip it does count for
everything. Therefore, things like superannuation are
calculated including the allowance.
2.
PO1
- 5TH INCREMENT (Includes MeS and GFS salary
equivalent)
Public
Sector Workforce Division has confirmed that those members classified
as PSO 1 - 5th increment on 1st October, translating to PO 1 5th
increment, will have service at PSO 1 increment 5 count in aggregate
towards progression to PO1 increment 6. The actual progression will
be subject to the assessment as specified in the Enterprise
Agreement.
3. ARE YOU CLASSIFIED CORRECTLY
There
are several projects underway across the public sector to
review the specific Classifications of particular professional
occupations. These processes will continue.
In
addition to these processes there maybe professionals in the
membership who believe that they may not be classified correctly in
the new Professional Officer structure. The PSA is advising
members that if they can establish that they were working at a higher
level on the 1st October 2006 then they should write to their
management asking for their position to be assessed against the new
Work Level Definitions. If this request is rejected, members
should contact the PSA for assistance.
