MEMBERS UNITE AND SECURE WIN !
Public
Service Association members employed at Western Assessment &
Crisis Intervention Service Woodville Office have secured for
themselves a safe and healthy working environment for the first time
in months. This was only possible due to workers standing together
and demanding that their right to a safe and healthy working
environment was upheld.
During
recent months members were subjected to
PSA and Australian Nurses Federation members resolved that action had to be taken due to management's lack of affirmative action. The action taken by members was also their responsibility under the Occupational, Health, Safety and Welfare Act 2005 to not subject themselves to an unsafe working environment. Management has been put on notice that ALL unsatisfactory accommodation issues at Western ACIS will no longer be tolerated and these issues will need to be resolved through consultation with the PSA. Many
members may find themselves in unsafe working environments but seldom
realise or recognise that positive changes can be made. These issues
may include one or all of the following: Accommodation,
Security,
Bullying and Harassment and
Working Environment-lighting, noise etc. The most common is
unreasonable Workloads. If you believe that you may
be
affected by any of the above please do not hesitate to contact your
Industrial Officer or Worksite Representative. For more information or if you have any questions or concerns please contact Jean-Guy Townsend PSA Industrial Officer on 8205 3233 or jgt@cpsu.asn.au PSA
