STATEWIDE PATHOLOGY SERVICE - UPDATE No. 6
The report on the establishment of a Single Statewide Pathology Service, commissioned by the Department of Health (DH), has been completed. The Public Service Association (PSA) has received a copy and is currently analysing the details. Members can view a copy of the report on this web-site. The report makes a range of recommendations, however the intent is to have one administration service for public pathology underpinned by a single business support infrastructure. The report also recommends that further legal advice should be sought on the impact of a new service on the rights to salary sacrifice. The PSA has written to the Health Minister seeking an assurance that no decision will be made to create a single Pathology Service until it is clear that existing salary sacrifice arrangements can be maintained. The next meeting of the Pathology Sub-Committee, which has PSA representation from the areas affected (IMVS, SouthPath and CYWHS), is scheduled for 16 August 2007. The PSA welcomes any feedback from members in relation to the consultant's report. Worksite meetings will be scheduled to discuss the report with members. If you would like to schedule a meeting for your workplace, please contact one of the Industrial Officers below. Prior to the next meeting with DH, the PSA will convene a meeting of the PSA representatives involved to consider the feedback from members. If you have any queries or to schedule a worksite meeting, please contact: IMVS: Sue Cummins, sc@cpsu.asn.au or 8205 3260 SouthPath/CYWSH: Ted Szarek, tcs@cpsu.asn.au or 8205 3213 2 August 2007 |
