SA WATER ENTERPRISE BARGAINING

The PSA is pleased to confirm that after a protracted period of negotiations the PSA has agreed with SA Water a draft “Employment Agreement 2006” to become the consolidated document to contain all the terms and conditions of employment for all SA Water employees.

Important Outcomes

Key features of the employment agreement include:

  • Continuation of no forced redundancies;

  • No loss of existing conditions;

  • A “savings clause” to ensure the intentions contained in the parent SA Water Corporation Award and Enterprise Agreement are retained in the Employment Agreement;

  • 14 weeks paid maternity leave;

  • The ability to negotiate voluntary flexible working arrangements;

  • Improved on-call provisions;

  • Salary increments of $30 per week or 3.5% whichever is the greater, payable 12 May 2007, 10 May 2008, 9 May 2009;

  • All conditions and wage outcomes no less than those contained in the whole of government Parity enterprise agreement;

  • Duration until 30 June 2009.

Where to from here?

The PSA considers negotiations with SA Water are finalised, however the PSA is also mindful that other unions have matters still to be negotiated and agreed which are irrelevant to PSA members. To ensure PSA members are not unnecessarily delayed through protracted negotiations of unrelated matters, the PSA called upon SA Water to present the draft Agreement to all Administrative, Operational, Professional and Technical staff for a vote to determine if they accept or reject the draft Agreement. Other unions may then continue to negotiate with SA Water without fear of being pressured to conclude negotiations by the PSA.
