SHARED SERVICES UPDATE

The PSA has written to the Government with a series of demands in relation to Shared Services. Whilst many issues have been raised on behalf of PSA members, some of the fundamental issues include;

  • No regional positions should relocate to Adelaide

  • No disadvantage for employees as a result of transition to Shared Services SA

  • Maintaining of Salary Sacrifice arrangements for Health employees

  • Consideration of impact on child care, increased travel time and costs, relocation expenses

  • Maintaining service provision; including classification, workload and contract issues

  • Maintaining conditions of employment

  • Changes to redeployment process

A satisfactory response is yet to be received, yet Government is indicating it will begin notifying employees this December with transitioning to commence in February 2008. PSA draws a clear distinction between receiving information and genuinely negotiating issues of concern.

Given the outstanding critical issues, and the fact many employees are on leave during December/January, the PSA has stated it is unacceptable for employees to be forced to make decisions affecting their future without adequate information. The PSA has requested that these unrealistic timelines be reconsidered to allow for full and proper negotiation of the issues raised.

Many members have been vocal in their disapproval of the Government's action, and calling for a strong response. The PSA is meeting with members now to consider what actions they are willing to take. Should the response from Government continue to be unsatisfactory, in January 2008 members will determine an appropriate campaign. Members are asked to compile a list of actions appropriate to their worksite. Confidential suggestions may also be made by emailing enquiries@cpsu.asn.au

The PSA will continue to keep members informed. Should you have any queries, please contact PSA Industrial Officer Josie Barbaro on jxb@cpsu.asn.au

It is important to ensure your interests are protected by encouraging non members to join now.
