SHARED SERVICES UPDATE

PSA General Secretary Jan McMahon, Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher and Industrial Officer Josie Barbaro met briefly with representatives from the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) and Shared Services SA (SSSA), on Friday 21st December 2007.

The following is a summary of issues discussed;

  • The PSA was provided with a list of positions identified as 'in scope' for Group 1. Now that employees have been advised by SSSA through Agency meetings that their position is included, members need to now raise any outstanding concerns with the PSA.

  • The PSA provided comments on the Draft Terms and Conditions document which was tabled at the last meeting by DTF and SSSA representatives. The PSA clearly identified no disadvantage as the main principle underpinning the document. Government will consider the issues raised by the PSA.

  • The PSA agreed to provide a prioritised list of issues in relation to Shared Services at the next meeting in early 2008 in order to progress these matters.

  • Although a key document affecting staff who do transition, the Human Resources Principles document has still not been agreed to by the parties. This needs to occur before any members transition. An undertaking was given to the PSA to provide formal feedback on the principles early in the new year.

  • Given the substantial work being done to the new office accommodation at Westpac House, the PSA formally raised its intention to conduct an OHS&W inspection prior to additional employees moving into the building, and expects this to be done in late January 2008.

The PSA will continue to raise issues of concern to members in relation to Shared Services. PSA members have continued to meet to discuss possible responses should no satisfactory response be provided by the time employees are being asked to relocate.
