FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S APOLOGY TO INDIGENOUS AUSTRALIANS

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, on behalf of the Federal Government, will make an apology to the Stolen Generation of Indigenous Australians in Parliament House, Canberra at 8:30am (South Australian time) on Wednesday 13 February 2008.

A number of organisations, including Reconciliation South Australia, have arranged for a big screen in Elder Park for people to see the Prime Minister make the apology.

The PSA hopes that as many members as possible will start assembling in Elder Park from 8:00am to hear and celebrate this historic announcement.

Chief Executives have the delegation to approve special leave with pay. Members are encouraged to apply for special leave with pay to attend this event. Cultural Leave is applicable to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. If the application is not accepted, contact the PSA.

All State Governments have already made their apologies and this outstanding act from the Federal Government is to be welcomed.

For enquiries contact PSA Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher by email: pgc@cpsu.asn.au or phone: 8205 3200.
