ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Public Service Association (PSA) members at the Modbury District Centre of Families SA have determined to campaign if further resources are not provided by close of business Wednesday 20 February 2008. Astonishingly, Families SA management have decided not to extend up to 7 contract positions due to budget constraints. The impact of such a decision has enormous implication for the most vulnerable in the community, particularly children.
At a meeting of members yesterday, the following motion was passed unanimously: "Condemns the Families SA Executive for not allocating sufficient resources to enable the staff at Modbury Office to provide appropriate legally required support for families and children in need. Astonishingly, Families SA management have decided not to extend up to 7 contract positions due to budget constraints. The impact of such a decision has enormous implication for the most vulnerable in the community, particularly children. Demands that arrangements be made for appropriate levels of ongoing resources to be provided. Resolves to commence a campaign, co-ordinated by PSA Executive, to achieve those resources if Families SA fails to do so by 5pm Wednesday 20 February 2008."
It is unacceptable that the support for families and children is put at risk. Families SA has a responsibility for the most vulnerable in the community.
