FAMILIES SA MODBURY DISTRICT CENTRE INDUSTRIAL ISSUES UPDATE

Public Service Association members met at the Modbury District Office on Wednesday 27 February 2008 to discuss the correspondence received from the Department for Families and Communities relating to staffing shortages in Modbury District Centre.

PSA Industrial Officer Vanessa Ravenhill reported back to members that of the original 7 contracts due to cease or have a variation of hours, 5 have been extended until the end of June 2008.

One position has a substantive occupant returning in mid March 2008. PSA were able to negotiate a further extension to the Senior Practitioner position until 14 March 2008.

Further extensions were not possible until after the Boundary Realignment Project has been implemented in July 2008.

PSA members were encouraged to table any outstanding questions and concerns to Marj Ellis, Northern Metro Regional Director, when she attends a staff meeting in the near future.

PSA members determined to not implement the foreshadowed industrial action as a result of the outcome but to review the staffing situation should any further shortages occur.

This development demonstrates how union members working together can bring about positive change and deliver successful outcomes for staff and clients of Families SA.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact PSA Industrial Officer Vanessa Ravenhill by email: vr@cpsu.asn.au or phone: 82053251.
