WORKCOVER CAMPAIGN

PSA URGES PREMIER RANN TO STOP CUTS

The Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation (Scheme Review) Amendment Bill 2008 has been tabled in Parliament. The proposed legislation imposes significant reductions on injured workers' pay and conditions. Government intends to commence debate on the Bill in Parliament on 1st April, 2008. The PSA is campaigning vigorously to have the Bill amended to protect injured workers' rights.

As the Bill is to be debated over the coming weeks there is no certainty about the future of Workcover and what the final legislation will be.

Public Sector employees working for the community need to know they will be looked after if they are injured doing their jobs.

The most important thing that members can do at the current time to protect their workers compensation entitlements is to support the PSA and SA Union's Workcover campaign. As part of the campaign the PSA is encouraging members to attend Parliament for this debate. It is important to hear what your Politicians are saying about reducing workers' entitlements and to show your concerns.

Nobody asks to be injured at work. Tell Premier Rann that you don't support cuts to injured workers pay and rights.
