ENTERPRISE BARGAINING 2008 GOVERNMENT MAKES AN OFFER

On Wednesday 16th April 2008 the formal Single Bargaining Centre met to continue negotiations for a new Enterprise Agreement.  The PSA representatives at this meeting were, Vice President Dianne Rankine, Councillor Max Hodge, and Assistant Chief Industrial Officer Gayle Peak,

The Government tabled an offer which included provisions specifically for SSOs:-

* 3.25% per annum effective from first full pay day on or after the lst October 2008, 1st October 2009 and lst October 2010.

* 14 weeks paid maternity leave (as achieved by the PSA for PSM Act employees in 2006) with the option to take 28 weeks at half pay. Also included in the offer is the right to return to work on a part-time basis up until the child's second birthday.

* A new School Services Officer Level 6 Classification

There are also proposals in the offer for the Department and unions to consult on Professional Development and Performance Management to improve processes.

The Government included in their offer a proposal for a new Student Centred Resource Funding Model to replace the current Staffing Allocation Model.  The offer proposes that the new funding model would commence from the 2010 school year.

The Enterprise Bargaining offer will be discussed with PSA members and a formal response provided to Government.
