DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES
ENTERPRISE BARGAINING 2008

On Wednesday 30th April, the Single Bargaining Centre for the Enterprise Bargaining negotiations met again.

The 3.25% wage offer is significantly below the claim made by the PSA.  It is also well behind the current inflation rate.  Other significant aspects of the PSA claim, including SSO workloads have not been addressed in the Government offer.

Accordingly, the PSA has advised DECS that the Enterprise Bargaining offer (which was reported to you on the 16th April, 2008) is not acceptable.

This meeting also discussed the Student Centred Funding Model which is the proposal put forward by Government in these negotiations.  This funding model is designed to replace the current Staffing Allocation Model.   Whilst Government gave a broad outline of what is proposed, significant concerns were raised by the union parties.

The Government will conduct separate meetings to work through the issues arising from their proposal, in addition to the ongoing negotiations.

PSA members are invited to attend a meeting on Thursday 8th May at 4.30 pm at the PSA, 122 Pirie Street, Adelaide. For members who require a telephone linkup, please email gp@cpsu.asn.au or telephone the Industrial Secretary on 8205 3246. Members will be provided with the opportunity to discuss the Government offer in detail.

Further meetings will be scheduled over the coming weeks and will held at schools north and south of Adelaide.

If you have any questions or queries please contact Gayle Peak, Assistant Chief Industrial Officer at the PSA on gp@cpsu.asn.au
