MODBURY HOSPITAL UPDATE

The Department of Health Industrial Liaison Committee met recently. The purpose of the DOH Industrial Liaison Committee (ILF) is to provide a consultative mechanism between DOH management and the recognised health care unions (ANF, SASMOA, LHMWU) who have members employed across the health portfolio.

PSA initiated discussion in regards to a number of important issues at this forum which have been raised by Modbury Hospital members. A document summarizing these issues was given to management and the PSA is awaiting a response. Once a response is received, the PSA will report back to members.

The issues raised included the following:

Workload

Staffing in the front of house area comprising of admissions, emergency reception counter and switchboard, members in this area constantly work rostered days off and public holidays. Working 7.5 hours without a break occurs on a regular basis. Time sheets indicate the high number of hours worked.

Reclassification
Members working in front of house have been requesting a reclassification from ASO1 to ASO2, as they work with minimal supervision and make decisions on a daily basis requiring high levels of initiative.

Leave Entitlements
Members have reported that they are not able to see what their leave entitlements are on their time sheets due to ongoing issues with the CRIS system.

Payroll - Shared Services
Members believe that there has been insufficient consultation.
Members do not want to move to Lyell McEwin or the city.

PSA is the official union which covers Allied Health Professionals, Technical, Operational and Administrative classifications in the Public Sector. With a rapidly changing industrial environment, being a member of the PSA will ensure you have access to up-to-date information, support and representation.

The industrial Officer for Modbury Hospital will be visiting your worksite in the upcoming weeks. To arrange a meeting time or if you have any queries about the above issues please contact Carly Cooper, Industrial Officer on email clc@cpsu.asn.au or phone 8205 3285
