STATE BUDGET - WORKCOVER UPDATE
STATE BUDGET Treasurer Foley will hand down the 2008 State Budget on Thursday, 5 June. The PSA, represented by General Secretary Jan McMahon, President Lindsay Oxlad and Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher will be involved in the pre-Budget lockup and analysis of the effects of the Budget. The PSA seeks feed-back from members, even prior to the formal Budget announcement, of the likely impact on the community and clients of agencies. Feedback will be treated confidentially and can be forwarded to Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher at pgc@cpsu.asn.au or on 8205 3224. While the Budget papers will provide details of changes to expenditure on agency programs, the PSA relies on member feedback to assist in assessing likely community impacts. WORKCOVER The Legislative Council will sit next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (June 3-5) and will deal with approximately 150 amendments to the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation (Scheme Review) Amendment Bill 2008. The amendments will be moved by Greens Leader Mark Parnell and Independent Ann Bressington. It is important that as many members as possible attend the sitting to emphasise their concern to Government. For further details on attendance please contact Assistant Chief Industrial Officer Gayle Peak on 8205 3288. The PSA WorkCover Campaign web-page now includes a link to a 1995 speech by then Opposition Leader (and now Premier) Rann condemning proposals to cut workers compensation benefits. How things have changed ! PSA MEMBERS WHO STAND TOGETHER, WIN TOGETHER 2 June 2008
