NEW BEGINNING - PLANNING SA PSA Assistant General Secretary Nev Kitchen, PSA Worksite Representative Noel Mensforth, together with PSA Industrial staff met with Planning SA Acting CE John Hanlon to discuss the government's rationale for the proclamation of Planning SA as a new department. Mr. Hanlon confirmed that government has resourced Planning SA to be a key agency to ensure the timely delivery of the requirements of the State Economic Plan, for both the short term and the long term (30 years). The main points discussed included: . Full Planning SA Charter determined by State Cabinet . Policy, direction and staff requirements for the next 3 years . Short term increase of staffing by 22 FTE's . Additional funding for recruiting Demographers and Planners . Immediate legislative review to achieve significant “Red Tape” savings . Implementing better cooperation between Industry and Planning SA . Re-invigorate the Strategic Plan The PSA will continue to consult with management to ensure members entitlements are maintained and members are supported to acquire the new skills that will be required by Planning SA.
