PSA General Secretary Jan McMahon and Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher today met with recently appointed Industrial Relations Minister, the Hon. Paul Caica.

The purpose of the meeting was to identify and discuss issues of interest and concern to PSA members. It was recognised at the outset that each of the issues will need more detailed and ongoing consideration, with today’s meeting providing an overview to the Minister.

Issues identified by PSA today which have industrial relations implications were:

• Skills Shortages in the Public Sector.

• Shared Services.

• Enterprise Bargaining, with a new claim and negotiations due in 2009.

• Public Sector Bill 2008.

It was agreed that the Minister would meet with the PSA quarterly, with other meetings as required.
