SHARED SERVICES

Earlier today PSA members in Payroll and Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable who are scheduled to transition to Shared Services SA, met to discuss a revised Government offer dated 20 November 2008.

The two main improvements related to;

1. FBT Transitional Period - Guaranteed for 3 years for employees currently salary sacrificing as at 17 November 2008. If during that time an employee becomes excess, Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) will provide duties so the employee can continue to be eligible for the full 3 year period.

2. Reclassification - If requested by a transitioning employee, DTF will ensure an independent assessment of classification. DTF also undertakes to not artificially change an employee's normal duties immediately following transition so as to deliberately keep them at a lower level.

In light of the improved offer, PSA members endorsed the following motion;

"That this meeting of PSA members accepts the Government offer of 20 November 2008 provided that:

1. The list of independent assessors is approved by the PSA and appointed as soon as possible and that every effort be made to assess the classification level of those employees ("in scope") who have sought reclassification, prior to transfer to SSSA.

2. Employees' applications for independent reclassification can be made by a simple request.

3. Re access to SA Health Internal Vacancy Notice. If SSSA ex health employees to whom this applies achieve a temporary position at their substantive level or as a promotional position that they be guaranteed release for the period of the vacancy.

4. Employees who accelerated their salary sacrifice arrangement are considered to be participating in salary sacrifice for the purpose of the Government's revised offer of 20 November 2008."

    All bans and limitations will be removed on receipt of confirmation by the Government     that they agree to the above points.

The PSA will keep members informed of developments. Should you have any queries contact Josie Barbaro Acting Assistant Chief Industrial Officer on phone (08) 8205 3294 or email jxb@cpsu.asn.au
