Christmas Message 2008
The PSA has continued to provide significant industrial representation for members over the past year with achievements across the board, at local level and for individual members. 2009 will hold many challenges, including : EB 2009 Senior PSA Officials met with Industrial Relations Minister, Paul Caica this week. Next Year will see the lodging of a new claim and PSA proposed arrangements for future negotiations to progress Enterprise Bargaining. Ongoing members input into the development of the claim will be sought in January. Members wishing to put forward proposals now can do so at enquiries@cpsu.asn.au Public Sector Bill The PS Bill has been tabled in Parliament, with debate to start after Parliament resumes in February 2009. PSA has significant concerns, particularly with the shift of power to Chief Executives for matters up to and including termination. PSA will seek to have the Bill amended in the Legislative Council. Legislative Council The Premier has announced that a referendum will be held at the time of the next election to determine the future of the Legislative Council. PSA members and the community have benefited from having an Upper House, not controlled by the Government of the day amending legislation. PSA has commissioned an educational video to be released early next year about this important role of the Legislative Council. 2008 has been a busy and eventful year and PSA looks forward to continuing to work with you in 2009.
