PUBLIC SECTOR BILL UPDATE
At 5.21 pm yesterday, the PSA received a letter from the Minister which explained the Government's position regarding the Bill.
PSA has responded to this letter in the following terms:
16 February 2009
Hon. Jay Weatherill, MP
Minister Assisting the Premier in Public Sector Management and Cabinet Business
GPO Box 1047
ADELAIDE SA 5001
Via Fax: (08) 8463 5681
Dear Minister,
Thank you for your letter regarding the Public Sector Bill received by
fax in this office at 5.21pm today, Monday, 16 February 2009.
The final paragraph of your letter indicates that you are willing to
continue discussions with a view to trying to resolve outstanding
differences. If you are serious in that regard, the PSA calls upon you
to not proceed with debate on the Bill tomorrow, Tuesday, 17 February
2009, and instead to enter into genuine negotiations regarding the
significant differences that exist between the PSA and the Government.
To proceed with the debate in the House of Assembly tomorrow can hardly
be regarded as an act of good faith when you claim a willingness to
continue discussions aimed at resolving concerns.
Yours sincerely,
JAN McMAHON
GENERAL SECRETARY
