ATTORNEY GENERAL MEMBERS WIN

In September 2006 Public Service Association (PSA) members employed by the Attorney Generals Department as Wagering Inspectors advised their manager that they had been incorrectly paid in regards to weekend work and meal allowances.

Since that time the PSA has been in negotiations with the Attorney Generals Department regarding these issues.

The PSA provided documentation and rosters that supported the claims and clearly showed there had been a breach and disregard of members rights and award conditions.

In December 2008 members were back paid unpaid meal allowances and on the 7th January 2009 the PSA was informed that it had been determined that all associated travelling time should have incurred penalty rates (where penalty rates applied) therefore not payable at ordinary time.

Members were not provided with any information detailing the calculation of the back pay. This matter will be pursued with AGD.

Further negotiations will occur to ensure members have and will receive their full entitlements.

Please contact PSA Industrial Officer Keith Knipe on 8205 3297 or kgk@cpsu.asn.au if you need further information.
