ENVIRONMENT AND HERITAGE BUDGET SAVINGS

The Public Service Association (PSA) is aware that The Department for Environment and Heritage (DEH) as with all Government agencies has been given direction to cut spending and to make extreme fiscal decisions.

The PSA has grave concerns for any reduction in services provided to the community and cuts in staff. Any such cuts will severely limit DEH in achieving effective and efficient environmental policy, management and outcomes.

It is disappointing that state Government Agencies, including DEH, continue to cut budgets whilst at a Federal level, spending on infrastructure is increasing. The PSA believes DEH ought to be increasing its services, with the appropriate resources, not diminishing them.

The PSA is aware there are a number of reviews underway throughout DEH. In order to establish how the community and staff will be effected by the projected cut, the PSA is requesting information to be provided forthwith as to DEH's projected cuts to services and to jobs within the agency.

Please contact PSA Industrial Officer, Wayne Dungey should you have any questions or comments on 8205 3238 or email wkd@cpsu.asn.au
