HOUSING REALIGNMENT

The PSA met with senior officials of Housing SA on Tuesday 10 March 2009 to discuss the realignment.

Housing SA argued to ensure the organisation is in a position to be able to take maximum advantage of funds available from the Commonwealth and State for social housing.

The PSA has a number of concerns. These include:

The inadequate consultation process. It would appear that a"fait accompli " has already occurred in that Housing SA will implement the structural change consistent with the realignment.

Secondly the PSA has stated that Aboriginal housing concerns will not be met by the proposed changes. As a consequence a further meeting will take place with Housing SA for the PSA to further explain its concerns regarding Aboriginal housing.

The PSA has insisted that the restructure as it applies to Aboriginal housing not proceed. The PSA will be calling a meeting of members in Aboriginal Housing and Aboriginal Housing Central Services to discuss all the issues The Union reserves the right to lodge a dispute under the Parity Agreement in the event that our concerns are not addressed. Members will be kept informed of further discussions.
