SSO INFORMATION UPDATE
LIMESTONE COAST SSO CONFERENCE PSA Councillor and SSO, Max Hodge and PSA Industrial Officer, Kerrin Martin will be attending the Limestone Coast SSO conference being held in Mt Gambier, on Friday 15th May and Saturday 16th May. The PSA will be sponsoring a morning tea for conference participants and there will be a PSA information booth set up. PSA members are encouraged to visit the booth and on presentation of their membership card will receive a PSA goody bag and be entered into a raffle which will be drawn during lunchtime on Saturday. SSOs who are not PSA members but join during the conference will receive information about the services provided by the PSA, PSA goodies and will also be entered into the draw. Kerrin will be available to discuss any issues members may have. If members do not have a PSA worksite representative in their school and have an interest in becoming a worksite rep, or would like information about worksite reps please discuss this with Kerrin. Worksite representatives are a vital link between the Union and it's members. Kerrin and Max are looking forward to the opportunity to catch up with our country members. SSO NATIONAL RECOGNITION WEEK Members should note that PSA SSO National Recognition Week will be held in the week of Monday 20th July and Friday 24th July 2009. The PSA will once again hold an SSO Conference on Wednesday 22nd July at the PSA building. Further information will be provided to members shortly. The conference is for PSA members only, so if you are not a member and would like to attend the conference, join now to avoid disappointment. ENTERPRISE BARGAINING PSA members would be aware that as a result of the breakdown of Enterprise Bargaining negotiations, the Unions and Government will be entering into an Arbitration process. Both the AEU and SA Government have made applications for the making of a new award. The PSA will be representing SSOs in the South Australian Industrial Relations Commission to ensure a fair outcome for SSOs. PSA witness statements were lodged in the Industrial Commission on the 1st May, 2009. The PSA SSO witness statements focused on the excessive workloads experienced by SSOs. The Arbitration commences at the end of June 2009 and the PSA will keep members informed as information becomes available. SCHOOL VISITS Do you know about your rights and conditions of employment?
