REDUCTION OF PUBLIC SECTOR SERVICES
The State Government has announced its intention to cut 1600 Public Sector jobs, with 1200 of these to occur in 2009/2010. The vast majority of these are expected to leave through the Targeted Voluntary Separation Package (TVSP) by the end of September. Despite the Government rhetoric that these will not be front line positions, it is clear that from information received by the PSA that there will be a direct impact upon the community in most cases. Simply put, the workload is expected to remain unchanged, but there will be 1200 less people to do the work. Information is sought from members about the impact that the cuts have upon both their workloads and also the impact upon services to the community. Please provide any relevant information to your Industrial Officer at the PSA. In addition, if you have information of a sensitive nature this can also be provided to Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher by e-mail pgc@cpsu.asn.au. Confidentiality will be protected in all cases. PSA Chief Industrial Officer Peter Christopher on 8205 3220 or e-mail pgc@cpsu.asn.au. 13 August 2009 |
