The Public Service Association (PSA) as a key stakeholder in state health services has been provided with a draft copy of the South Australian Public Health Bill 2009 by the Minister for Health.

The draft Bill is the result of a review of the Public and Environmental Health Act 1987

The draft South Australian Public Health Bill 2009 aims to provide a modernised, flexible legislative framework so that South Australia can better respond to new public health challenges as well as traditional sanitation issues.

The Bill has a number of new elements but maintains and improves many provisions within the current legislation.

PSA will be providing feedback on the draft Bill by close of business Wednesday 30 September 2009.
